Mimikyu's special ability blocks the first unshielded Charged Attack it receives, and then reduces its Defense by 1 stage for the rest of the match (even if it switches out).

With this extra shield, Mimikyu's 1v1 matchups are unprecedented - it effectively always has shield advantage. With Fairy and Ghost offenses, it can hit just about everything for neutral damage. Its worst matchups are against bulky Normal types, bonus points if they have Ghost coverage (you know who). This is an unexplored mechanic, so we'll see if it debuts to a hot start or takes some time to master like Aegislash.

NOTE: All simulations currently use the old/legacy PvP mechanics. I'll be exploring ways to implement a toggle or a cup-specific setting. If I don't find a good solution, I'll keep the legacy PvP mechanics in place until Worlds at the end of August. Stay tuned!

New Shadow Rankings

New Shadow Pokemon are flocking this way, and they're well worth a look for PvP! Shadow Corviknight brings a notable boost to a Pokemon known for its tepid damage output. It's a top pick already, and should be dangerous in capable hands. Time will tell if it becomes preferred over the regular form!

Shadow Noctowl might have been scarier a few years ago, but it gives regular Noctowl access to Return. Not many Pokemon can make good use of this move, and Noctowl appears to be one of them, with good bulk, decent energy generation, and STAB.

Dewgong is too slow and dependent on its bulk to take advantage of the Shadow boost right now, but hold onto it for a future moveset shakeup. Shadow Dewgong has room to grow if Dewgong's pacing ever improves or if Icy Wind ever falls out of favor.

For Master League enthusiasts, Shadow Reshiram looks every bit as fearsome as its regular counterpart. Fusion Flare is even more devastating, and Draco Meteor is a practical OHKO against anything that doesn't resist it.

Summer Cup Rankings

Summer Cup returns in just over a week, and it should feel familiar for anyone playing along this season. Cradily, Lickilicky, and Furret return as top contenders, and are joined by a wave of Water types, including Kingdra, Empoleon, and Jellicent. Bug types provide a new angle to attack Cradily, in particular Forretress and Araquanid, so this cup should be a bit more open than Sunshine.

Baxcalibur Rankings

Baxcalibur emerges from the stone this Community Day with its exclusive move, Glaive Rush! On paper, it's an excellent move with higher damage and a lower energy cost than Dragon Claw. However, it also comes with a 1 stage Defense Drop for the user. Altogether, this results in some marginal gains for Baxcalibur.

Baxcalibur is moderately ranked across all leagues, so potentially look to evolve one for each. The main culprits are its low stat product and poor defensive typing, which make the Defense drop from Glaive Rush difficult to navigate. Enjoy the Community Day!

Mega Master League Rankings

Mega Master League returns with a few shakeups, including the debut of Mega Mewtwo. However, it's not the star of the show—that title belongs to Primal Kyogre, which received a rework to Waterfall. With a top stat product, coveted BoltBeam coverage, and better energy generation, Primal Kyogre is every bit the menace that legends claim it to be. Its worst matchups are against Dragon types, but even those must fear its Avalanche coverage, especially Mega Rayquaza.

If you're breaking out Mega Mewtwo, it's plenty powerful in its own right. Mega Mewtwo Y is the stronger of the two on paper, with better stats and typing. It has a few key walls—Mega Gyarados, one of the strongest and most accessible picks, and Mega Tyranitar, another heavy hitter. Mega Mewtwo X has worse stats and arguably worse typing, but unlike Mega Mewtwo Y, it can flip the script on Gyarados and Tyranitar with access to Counter. It has some nightmare matchups including against its counterpart, so careful team building will be important.

Sunshine Cup Rankings

Sunshine Cup returns next week, featuring Ground, Normal, Fire, and Grass types. Cradily, Miltank, Lickilicky, and Furret look to be among the strongest contenders with few threatening weaknesses. To that end, Blaziken may play a key role in shutting them down, but has to beware of Ground and Flying in return. This may be a time to try out some niche picks that otherwise don't see play, so don't be afraid to venture out and don't forget your sunscreen!

Forever Forward Update

The site is now updated for the new season, Forever Forward! The move updates are just about all as expected, except for Dragon Ascent being reduced to 45 energy. If you were using the preview site over the past week, the rankings should look just about the same. Have fun trying out new Pokemon and good luck to start the season!

Forever Forward Rankings Preview

A preview is now available for next season, Forever Forward! Note that some updated move parameters are speculative, so they may change when the official numbers become official when the season launches.

Next season's changes should have limited impact on the top meta, but rounds the middle with a number of new contenders. Kanto Ninetales, Jumpluff, Seismitoad, and even Sliggoo all look to find a spot in the open league. With Wigglytuff nerfed, Sylveon and Aromatisse also emerge as new Fairies to take its place. Take a look and see you when the season starts!

Oinkologne Rankings

Lechonk Community Day gives Oinkologne access to Mud Slap! Even after the nerf, this boosts Oinkologne to a comparable tier as Furret, Dunsparce, or Greedent. Its strong Fast Move pressure separates it from similar Normal types, which tend to be energy oriented. Female Oinkologne has better stats than male, so keep this in mind during Community Day!

Shareable Links for Matrix Battle

The Matrix Battle feature now supports shareable links, limited up to 16 custom Pokemon. You can use this for comparing teams in team tournaments (up to 8v8) or comparing matchups against a preselected group (such as examining IV combinations). Matrix Battles which feature more than 16 custom Pokemon are still not shareable but may be supported in the future.

New Shadow Rankings

A handful of new Shadow Pokemon will be making their debut alongside Shadow Landorus. Of the bunch, only Araquanid draws much PvP interest while Bewear, Shiinotic, and Heliolisk are better for the spice cabinet. It has pure Steel typing, decent bulk, and EdgeQuake coverage with access to non-STAB Mud Slap, Rock Tomb, and Earthquake. Iron Head is also an option but less appealing into other Steels. Its prospects look best in themed cups such as Fantasy Cup, which returns alongside it. We'll see if it worms its way into any metas!

Great League Top Performers

I've updated the Top Performers page with the latest Great League training data, including early Tinkaton performance. There's no denying this Pokemon is a meta changer, even as hard counters like Jellicent and Forretress are out for the Fairy hunt. Tinkaton counts among most of the top performing teams, where it's typically paired with Feraligatr.

These two are performing so well, in fact, that other Pokemon are struggling in comparison. A few that are keeping their head above water are Galarian Corsola, Empoleon, and Forretress. On the other hand, Shadow Drapion, Annihilape, and Wigglytuff have taken big performance hits.

Good luck as the meta adapts to this new menace!

NAIC Championship Cup Rankings

Rankings are now available for the NAIC Championship Series Cup, which will be the featured meta of NAIC 2026. Note that NAIC will take place shortly after a seasonal move update, so keep in mind during your preparation that the meta may be impacted as a result. Tinkaton is receiving its exclusive move this upcoming Community Day, and it looks to become a smash hit in Great and Ultra League. It comes at a steep 60 energy and with Steel offensive typing, but its sheer base power (subject to change) makes it impossible to ignore. Not only does Tinkaton improve its neutral matchups, especially as a closer, Gigaton Hammer gives it a major edge against rival Fairies. This one should be a must have for PvP!
